What participants say

I was a little uncertain before the healthcare session — I had tried to think through the numbers myself and kept feeling lost. By the third evening I had a savings target and a clear sense of how to get there. The facilitator made sure everyone had a chance to work through their own situation, not just a generic example.

The cash versus card workshop was compact and genuinely practical. I had assumed I already knew enough about this topic — turns out I had been paying fees on my card I had not noticed. The session changed a few small habits that I think will matter over time. Good value for a half-day.

My husband and I attended the relocation programme together ahead of our planned move to Khon Kaen. By the end we had a much more detailed picture of what the transition would actually cost and how to adjust our monthly budget. We felt much less anxious about it as a result.

I am 58 and had never attended anything like this before. The pace was calm — nobody rushed and nobody made you feel silly for asking a basic question. The workbook is something I have gone back to twice since the session. Worth every baht and then some.

The relocation programme helped me ask questions I did not know I should be asking — about costs in the new province, about lease terms, about the real difference between staying near a city and moving somewhere more rural. The fifth session where we finalised the plan was particularly useful.

I appreciated that the facilitator did not try to sell us anything. Every other money-related event I had attended eventually led to a pitch of some kind. This was different — it was clearly just about teaching. That trust made a real difference to how much I was able to take in.

CASE STUDIES

A closer look at three journeys

HEALTHCARE SAVINGS · 3 EVENING SESSIONS

Challenge

A 54-year-old teacher approaching retirement had no dedicated healthcare reserve and no clear sense of what medical costs might look like in her 60s and 70s. She found insurance documents confusing and was not sure whether she was adequately covered.

Approach

Over three evenings she mapped her current insurance coverage, worked out realistic out-of-pocket scenarios for common health events, and built a savings target with a monthly contribution amount. She also identified a gap in her plan for dental costs that she had overlooked.

Outcome

She left with a written savings plan, a clearer understanding of her insurance coverage, and the confidence to contact her insurer and ask two specific questions. Within six months she had begun making regular contributions to a dedicated medical savings account.

RELOCATION FINANCIAL PLANNING · 5 SESSIONS

Challenge

A couple in their early 50s were considering moving from Chiang Rai to a coastal province after the husband's early retirement. They had a rough idea of costs but had not done a detailed comparison and were uncertain about whether to rent or buy in the new location.

Approach

Across five sessions they worked through cost-of-living differences, reviewed property options in their target area, built a detailed relocation budget, and modelled a revised monthly lifestyle budget for the new location. They identified both savings opportunities and unexpected costs they had not anticipated.

Outcome

They decided to rent initially for 18 months before committing to a purchase decision. Their monthly budget was adjusted to reflect the actual cost difference, and they left with a detailed moving-cost estimate covering the transition period. They described feeling significantly more prepared.

CASH VS CARD DECISION · HALF-DAY WORKSHOP

Challenge

A 47-year-old small business owner used a mix of cash and several bank cards but had no clear rationale behind the mix. She suspected she was paying unnecessary fees and not making the most of available rewards, but lacked the confidence to evaluate the options herself.

Approach

During the half-day session she completed a spending audit exercise, reviewed the fee structures on her two most-used cards, and evaluated whether the cashback on one of them justified the annual fee. She also worked through the security practices for her regular online bill payments.

Outcome

She cancelled one card that was costing more in fees than it was returning in rewards, consolidated her payment habits around two clear purposes, and updated her online payment security settings the week after the session. A small change, but one she felt confident about.
