OUR STORY
How Phet Mongkhon came to be
Phet Mongkhon began from a simple observation: adults entering their 40s and 50s often face genuinely different financial decisions from those covered in mainstream money programmes. The question is rarely about building a career portfolio from scratch — it is about protecting what has been built, adapting to changing health costs, considering a relocation, and using payment tools wisely in a world that keeps adding new ones.
Our founder spent over a decade working in adult education across northern Thailand, noticing that older learners thrived when given time, relevant material, and a facilitator who did not rush them. Phet Mongkhon was created to hold that kind of space — in Chiang Rai, in English, for adults who deserve to feel informed rather than overwhelmed.
We are not a large institution. We are a small, careful operation where every participant matters. Our programmes are refined based on participant feedback each season, and our facilitators are trained to meet people where they are.
Our Mission
To make financial clarity accessible and comfortable for every adult in Chiang Rai who wants it — regardless of their starting point or prior knowledge.
Our Approach
Small groups, patient facilitation, locally grounded content, and workbooks written in plain language. We do not sell products or direct you toward specific providers. Our only interest is your understanding.
Our Values
- Respect for every participant's pace
- Transparency with no hidden agenda
- Content rooted in Thai financial realities
- Continuous improvement through participant feedback

HOW WE WORK
Standards we hold ourselves to
These are not aspirational statements — they are the specific commitments that shape how we design and deliver every session.
Conflict-of-Interest Free
We receive no commissions or referral fees from any financial institution, bank, or insurance provider. Our sessions are funded entirely by participant fees.
Small Group Sizes
Sessions are capped at 10 participants to ensure that every person receives individual attention and has space to ask questions at their own pace.
Current, Accurate Materials
Workbooks are reviewed before each programme intake to reflect current Thai banking practices, insurance products, and tax considerations.
Participant Privacy
Personal financial situations shared during sessions remain strictly within the room. Facilitators are bound by a clear confidentiality standard.
Feedback-Led Improvement
Every participant completes a confidential feedback form. We review these carefully and incorporate suggestions into the following programme cycle.
Plain Language Commitment
All materials and facilitation avoid unnecessary jargon. Where technical terms are needed, they are explained clearly before being used in context.
Financial education in Chiang Rai, designed for adult learners
Adults approaching or moving through their 40s and 50s in Thailand face a distinct set of financial decisions — managing healthcare costs in a changing insurance landscape, evaluating relocation to a different province, understanding the real difference between cash and digital payment habits. These are practical, real-world matters that deserve careful, calm attention.
Phet Mongkhon was established specifically for this audience, in Chiang Rai, because northern Thailand has a growing community of both Thai nationals and long-term expatriate residents who benefit from English-language financial education grounded in local conditions. Our workshops draw on the specifics of Thai banking systems, healthcare cost patterns in the region, and property market characteristics relevant to adults considering domestic relocation.
Our facilitators are experienced adult educators — patient, well-prepared, and committed to creating a setting where asking a basic question is as welcome as asking a complex one. We believe that financial clarity is a form of personal wellbeing, and that adults at any stage of their learning deserve to arrive at it on their own terms.
